Experience
Over the past 25 years, since graduating from high school, I have accumulated extensive experience in a wide range of professional and ancillary roles, which are outlined below.

Education Assistant - Special Needs, WA Department of Education
Since 2018, I have worked in secondary education, specialising in behaviour management for students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds. In this capacity, I support students in developing positive behavioural, social, and emotional skills that enable them to engage more effectively with their learning. My work involves designing and implementing behaviour support plans, delivering targeted interventions, and using evidence-based strategies to reduce disruptive behaviour and promote positive classroom conduct. I regularly collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and support staff to create consistent, trauma-informed, and inclusive approaches to behaviour across the school. In addition, I work closely with families and external agencies to address the broader social and environmental factors that influence student behaviour and educational participation. This includes contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings, monitoring student progress, and adapting interventions to meet individual needs.
Through this role, I have developed expertise in de-escalation techniques, restorative practices, and relational approaches to behaviour management. I am committed to fostering safe, supportive learning environments that enhance student wellbeing, build resilience, and improve academic and social outcomes for young people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.

Deputy Mayor of the City of Rockingham & Councillor, Comet Bay Ward
Since my election to the Council of the City of Rockingham in 2021, I have gained solid experience in policy development, government relations and financial management. I have contributed to the development and review of council policies and strategic documents, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with legislative and community expectations. I regularly engage with State Government representatives, regional bodies and local stakeholders to advocate for community outcomes and to stay informed of emerging policy and funding opportunities. In addition, I participate in the City’s budget and financial oversight processes, reviewing financial reports, assessing funding proposals and supporting transparent, responsible use of public funds.

Volunteer Fire Fighter, WA Department of Fire & Emergency Services
Throughout my thirteen-year tenure, I have responded to a broad spectrum of emergencies across the state, ranging from routine incidents to large-scale, multi-agency operations. These experiences have consistently required calm, deliberate judgment and measured leadership in high-pressure environments. In particular, I have been responsible for rapidly assessing dynamic situations, prioritising limited resources, coordinating with diverse stakeholders, and making time-sensitive decisions that directly affect public safety and operational outcomes. My work has also involved mentoring less experienced personnel, implementing established protocols while adapting to evolving conditions, and maintaining clear, effective communication with both internal teams and external partners. Collectively, these responsibilities have strengthened my capacity to lead under stress, uphold professional standards, and contribute to the development of resilient, evidence-informed emergency response practices.
